Transgender label & the rest
Ok, so just what does all those labels mean, anyway? Well, if you ask 10 people they will give you 10 different answers. Trying to put people under a label is tricky at best, impossible at worst. Some like to be in a label, it makes them feel like they finally found where they “belong”. Others hate being labeled and don’t understand why everyone has to lump people under a name.
I myself don’t like to think of being under one “label”. I’m me, I’m different than you, just like everyone is different. But society gets scared if we don’t have a damn name for every group of people that seem to have certain things in common.
Sooooo, lets take a look at just what the terms mean, at least what most people agree they mean, shall we now? Let’s start with the big one:
Transgender. This term is sort of like a big fence around the other terms. Just like “tools” mean anything that you work with, then within that we have automotive tools, carpentry tools, etc. Transgender describes anyone who is unsure if their physical self matches their inner self, or physiological self. They may be gay, straight or bi. Their feelings can range from totally wanting to become the opposite sex, to just liking the feeling of dressing up in women’s clothing.
Cross dresser. This term has a lot of people confused. There seems to be a lot of “gray area” in it. (oh, like the others don’t!). Most studies have found that the majority of cross dressers are straight, married men with kids. Most just like the feeling of being in women’s clothing. Some are gay, some are bi, and some are,,,, not sure!
Some cross dressers get a sexual high from wearing women’s clothes. Others actually find it relaxing, like taking a break from how you have to always be a “man”. Some take it to the extreme, shaving, putting on makeup, wigs, even silicone stick on boobs. Others just want to put on their wife’s stockings for a little while and enjoy it.
Transvestite. Oh boy, another term with lots of gray area! A transvestite is a cross dresser who Usually has a fetish for a certain type of clothing. For example some like pantyhose, or corsets, body stockings, high heels, anything like that. Once again they can be straight, gay or bi. Usually they get a sexual high or release from wearing their fetish clothing.
Transsexual. This term is a little easier to understand. Transsexual is someone who really feels they where born into the wrong gender body. They are very likely to undergo a sex change operation. Because the process takes a long time they sometimes can have breast while still having a penis because of the hormone treatments they take to become more like a woman.
Tranny, lady boy, she male. These label are usually derogatory terms used to describe someone who has both breast and male genitals. They can be born that way, or be a transsexual that is half way through sex reassignment surgery. A very few, for example young boys in Asia, take hormones to get breast so they can be part of the sex trade.
So that is my take on all the “terms” or “labels” we are given by society. In the end we are all different, and also all alike. I myself don’t pay too much attention to labels. Where do I fit if I had to choose one? Hhmmm, I guess it would be a cross dresser, with a twist of transvestite, lol. See, we just can’t fit into a label!
I made this post in case some of you really want to know what the terms mean. If you want the really white coat, squeaky clean interpretation of all this, check out this link. Now, it’s time for my nap!
