Ok, I am sure most of you are tired of all the different transgender labels and names we are put under. But some still are not sure where they fit in, or just what all those names mean. So, I want to break it down and discuss the three main sub-labels most (not all) of us fall under that big umbrella one, transgender. This week lets talk about: cross dressers.

I think of all the names we get stuck under, cross dresser is the most common. It also contains the most diversified cross section of men. The very meaning of the word means to “cross dress”, that is to wear clothing of the opposite sex.  The reason for Cross dressing can be many different things, both sexual and non sexual.

I have heard that most cross dressers are married, middle age men with kids. They can cross dress for just the comfort of wearing stockings. Some are very powerful, manly men who make tough decisions at work. Cross dressing gives them a release to be more vulnerable and meek. Some get a naughty high at role playing. Some do it for the excitement.

Then we have crossdressers that like to wear certain items, like pantyhose, corsets, stockings and so on. These tend to be more like fetishes, often sexual and that fall toward being more like a transvestite.

Then we have drag queens. The art of being a drag queen is more like a performer, an actor. They can be gay or straight. Often they only cross dress while performing as a drag queen. Confused yet!?

Then we have the gay, feminine one, which most who don’t know anything about cross dressers tend to think they all are. They actually make up a small percent, at least in my opinion. These tend to cross dress often, maybe always wearing something feminine like panties and so on.

Of course we also have cross dressers that really want to become the opposite sex, that believe they were born in the wrong gender body. These are transsexuals, I will go into detail about them in my 3rd instalment of labels.

Ok, so who’s next! Well, I think we also have a large “gray area” of cross dressers. Men who are gay or straight, or bi. They may do it for purely sexual feelings, maybe they want to be dominated. Maybe they just want to let their female side out and want to feel pretty. Maybe they only do it once or twice. Heck, I think MOST guys at one time have worn something that was a girls!

Some cross dressers stop at wearing the clothes. Other go all the way and shave their body, put on makeup, do their nails, everything! I guess it depends on your lifestyle, if your single or married, so many things fall into play.

Sooo, that’s the long breakdown of who a cross dresser is! Which seems to be,,, anybody, in any profession, any orientation, any country, any place. Sounds like your in very good company!! As for what do I put myself under? HHmm, that would be,,, all of the above!!
