Well here we go again, another Doctor that is doing something that some say is a blessing and others say he’s screwing people’s lives up. Dr Norman Spack, who opened his clinic in Boston Children’s Hospital last year, has patients from both the USA and the UK. He treats children as young as 7 to get them ready for a sex change.

What he does is prescribes drugs that delays the onset of puberty, giving them a few more years to try to come to terms with themselves about if they want to remain as the sex they were born as or not. He says this is totally reversible. This is for transgender kids who seem to think they identify as the opposite sex.

Then once they are teenagers they can continue with the therapy, which involves giving them non reversible hormones that affect their bodies like stunning their height or halting breast development. My, isn’t that neat! Or not, as many seem to think.

Dr Spack maintains that transgender kids have a high degree of suicide, and using this treatment reduces that greatly. Well, I can agree that kids that are in fact transgender are often suicidal, and if they were sure they would want a sex change that it would help them.

But asking a kid of 7 or 8 if they think they want a sex change,, I don’t think so! One of the biggest parts about growing up is learning new things and constantly changing their minds. I just don’t believe any kid can know for sure what they want at a young age.

Heck when I was 22 I still did not know what the hell I wanted! I can see how good it would be helping a child who really was transsexual. But how can you really be sure at that age? Now, he says the treatments are reversible, but my take on medicine is anything you stick in your body changes you forever, if only in a small way.

So putting hormone crap in you for a few months or years IS going to change you. Do you really want to do that to a kid who’s just going through a phase? What if all those girls that go through those years dressed in black, chains and the Goth look. Do you change them into a guy? (for you Goth chicks, not saying you look like a guy, in fact I’ve seen great Goth adult sites with hot babes in them!)

SO let’s say you do this, then when your “boy” now decides it was all a mistake, what do you do? “Well you said that’s what you wanted, so shut up”! I see big lawsuits ahead for this Doctor. I do believe that true transgenders who need a sex change should start it ASAP.

But I think too many kids at that age just don’t know what they really want. So they should not do it, it’s just too young. We have enough pills pushed on us we don’t need now. We don’t need to push pills on kids just because they wake up one day and decide it would be cool to change sex.
