Bilinda in Florida dodged the hurricane!

Well as most people know we here in Florida had hurricane Fay blow through the state. I live in Orlando, which is about right in the center. That happens to be about the safest place in the state. I guess the Florida Keys and lower places like Miami got some flooding and stuff, but all we got was some rain.

A lot of places closed early and got ready just in case, but we have worst thunderstorms than what we got here. So everything is fine here, but I hear it will move up to the northern part of the state, go out to sea a bit, then turn and move back over the northern part of the state. But anyway as far as Orlando goes we are fine.

I’ve been here through several hurricanes, and each one was not that bad. By the time the storm gets this far inland it loses a lot of it’s strength. But I have seen shingles torn off, chairs go flying and lots of trees down. The biggest threat is not the hurricane, but that it will start tornado’s!

With a hurricane you know it’s coming and can get ready. But a tornado, you have no idea when one will hit. I saw the aftermath of one not too far from me, and it really was frightening. It was like a giant lawn mower had gone through the woods and town. I saw stoves, refrigerators, all kinds of stuff thrown by the side of the road.

One of these days I want to build my own house. When I do I want it to be surrounded by earth. Sort of a earth house, but not sunk into the ground. The whole thing would be a big hill like thing! The earth would keep it cool from the Florida heat, and a tornado would have nothing to grab hold of, it would just go right over it.

Anyways I don’t mind putting up with some storms in return for the warmth. Plus in the winter there are no storms, heck it does not even rain here in the winter! So I’ll stay here for a while more. Once I can just work on my computer I may do some traveling, like I’m doing this fall. So Bilinda is fine here in Florida!
